black pictures

Watching a TV show about ghosts in Charleston, I remembered a family trip there a few summers ago. We took a haunted walking tour through the city. Palmetto bugs scuttled across my sneakers. There was a thickness in the air so warm, we almost passed out. One of the other tourists had to rest inside a hotel lobby, she got so sick from the heat.

We strolled through a graveyard with signs that said, Careful. The ground is soft. Watch where you walk. I tried to take a picture but my camera wouldn't work. I saw an oak tree sprouting out of someone's grave, just like the Tequesta mound in Miami's Deering Estate park. Our tour guide said that the dead guy must've lead a good life to be so blessed.

I finally got my camera rolling. The pictures turned out black.
