book meme

I've been tagged by ">blogmeridian. This book meme has been floating around like a virus. Now it's my turn to fill it out.

1. One book that changed your life.

The first story that I remember reading was Frederick by Leo Lionni. A mouse memorizes the colors of summer so we can keep our imaginations warm in the cold, blank days of winter.

2. One book you have read more than once.

The Changeling by Zilpha Keatley Snyder. It takes guts to do your own thing...especially when you're a teenaged girl.

3. One book you would want on a desert island.

Girl by Blake Nelson. Unless I had a volleyball named Wilson to keep me company, I would like to hang out with this cooler-than-thou chick....even if she comes from a man's imagination.

4. One book that made you laugh.

Gingerbread by Rachel Cohn. The main character is named after an old-timey movie star. Listening to her deadpan rants about surfer dudes and coffee bars makes me want to run away to San Fran.

5. One book that made you cry. The Perks of Being A Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky. This must be the Catcher in the Rye for the next generation of nerds (including me). It seems like everyone has read it and sobbed...not because it breaks your heart (which it does) but when you're done, you wish there were more pages to turn.

6. One book you wish had been written.

I will write my own book someday (I hope).

7. One book you wish had never been written.

Anything by Paris Hilton's dog.

8. One book you are currently reading.

Crooked by Louisa Luna. Another one of those MTV books with an attitude. The first line got me hooked: "My mother picked me up in Holding and smelled like baby powder and Vaseline lotion when she hugged me..."

9. One book you have been meaning to read.

There are never enough books. Can you suggest one for me?

10. Now tag five people!

I hereby tag: coldandgray, vintagepearl, schmutzie, invisibledon, and beckers-j...and you.
