technicolor apocalypse
When I turn on the TV, I gets a glimpse of the Apocalypse in Technicolor. Not the usual national disasters—terrorist attacks, alien invasions, the city of Los Angeles tumbling into the Pacific.
I can't sleep. I keep changing channels. A scientist on CNN talks about the secret language of the universe--electro-magnetic fields. He says all living things run on electricity. I think of the electro-magnetic field surrounding my body, which would look like raspberry Jell-O.
A bloated preacher with gecko eyes says, "Repent!" and I'm convinced he's tuned into my heart, its hazy perimeter of sin, electrical fields and all.
It's not the Apocalypse that freaks me out. It's all the stuff inbetween.
